To provide value-based education and mould the character of the younger generation through a system of wholesome learning, so that their earnest endeavor to achieve progress and prosperity in life is matched by an ardent desire to extend selfless service to society, one complementing the other.

Amrita University was started by the world-renowned humanitarian leader, Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, Amma. As Chancellor of the University, Amma continues to guide its mission and growth.

The University has come to be known today as one of India's leading research and teaching universities. It is accredited with the highest grade of 'A' by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council.

Thirteen thousand students are enrolled in over a hundred programs, including bachelors, masters, doctoral.

Faculty includes doctorates from leading universities world-wide; many are engaged in research projects to benefit humanity.

Collaborations with Top Universities World-Wide

Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi Inspired by Amma's vision for Amrita University, leading universities from around the world have sought to collaborate with Amrita.

Internationally-renowned faculty have taught at Amrita and Amrita students have been sent as exchange students to European and US universities.
Dual degree programs have been instituted, wherein students have the opportunity to earn a degree from a leading US university as well, through course-work primarily completed at Amrita.

An indigenously-developed e-learning platform is helping break down barriers of distance and time, as faculty on the other side of the globe engage classes for students at Amrita. Students from over 40 other institutions in India have the opportunity to participate as well.

Through this holding of hands and sharing of experiences, new horizons will open up in the highest realms of science and technology to those thirsting for knowledge in India and other parts of the world -- especially students, teachers, and researchers.
