Centre of Excellence In Computational Engineering
& Networking
Centre
of Excellence In Computational Engineering & Networking (
CEN ), which functions in the main campus of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham
located in the serene and picturesque Western Ghats valley in
Ettimadai, Coimbatore, will play an important role for the future
of the scientific discovery process and engineering design. The
CEN labs are currently conducting research in many innovative
areas of engineering, working towards developing by May 2004:
a massively parallel Partial Differential Equation (PDE) solver;
a massively parallel design and analysis platform for flow visualization
and fluid dynamics; reliable truss topology optimizer ; setting
up a full fledged Bio informatics lab. More»
Amrita Research labs (ARL)

is the dedicated Research & Development arm of Amrita Vishwa
Vidyapeetham. It is a platform for engaging in collaborative R&D
work by groups of faculty members and students. ARL recently unveiled
Amrita VPN (Virtual Private Network), a new, easy-to-use networking
software which allows users to connect their home, office, and
laptop onto a single network. The same institution recently hosted
a National Workshop on Information Security and Cryptography,
and is on the cusp of releasing Amrita TutGen, an open source
web tutorial generator. ARL also has plans to conduct research
on using Sanskrit for Artificial Intelligence and Natural Language
Processing.
The ARL team works in a unique environment that is the confluence
of creative talent, rigorous scientific temperament, and the vibrant
ambience of our parent organization engaged in multitude of charitable
activities aimed at uplifting the life and spirit of common person.
Every ARL member nurtures the vision that he or she would be able
to continually make contributions to technologies that would positively
impact the global society and result in a better world for all
of us to live in. More»
Centre of Excellence in Information Security
ARLs
leading edge research in a number of technologies over the past
few years has been receiving increasing attention from the industrial,
research, and academic institutions in India and abroad.
This is reflected in the increasing number of associations and
collaborations the Lab has entered in the recent past.
In a world where traditional sciences are fast losing their separate
identities, ARL actively engages in inter-disciplinary exploratory
research involving computing, communications, and electronics
(including medical electronics) thereby developing innovative
technolgoies.
ARL also makes regular contributions to the academic community
by regularly conducting classes and workshops on critical topics
and emerging technolgies such as Open Source tools and software,
Linux OS, Information Security and Cryptography. More»
Centre for Biotechnology
The Centre will aim at advancing socially relevant scientific research, generate affordable preventive and therapeutic innovations, to stimulate industrial growth and improve the human condition.
Recently the Government of India recognized the Amrita Centre for Biotechnology as a National Center of Relevance and Excellence (CORE) in Biomedical Technology. An eminent band of global researchers constitute a core team at the Biotech research facility at Amritapuri. More»
Centre for Excellence Wireless Sensor Networks

Centre for Telemedicine
Telemedicine
reduced to its simplest form is connecting geographically separate
health care facilities via telecommunications, video, and information
systems. It is the use of telecommunications technology to provide,
enhance, or expedite health care services, as by accessing off-site
databases, linking clinics or physicians' offices to central hospitals,
or transmitting x-rays or other diagnostic images for examination
at another site.
ARL has developed an integrated telemedicine solution-Amrita Telemedicine,
for linking various clinics and hospitals located in the remote
areas of Kerala with Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences and
Research Centre (AIMS), Cochin.More»
