NATIONAL ROBOTICS WORKSHOP On WALKING ROBOTS organized by: The Amrita Robotics Lab Department of Mechanical Engineering, Amrita University Amritapuri Campus (Bangalore Robotics - Docel Radio Research) The Walker Robotics Workshop (4th -6th, April 2008), the first of its kind in India, is open to students of ALL semesters & branches. The Robo Walker Workshop consists of the following: 1. 4 legged Creeper Robot. Autonomous and sensor driven - using Neural-Networks. 2. 2 motor 3 DOF per limb Walking robot, semi-autonomous, with associated electronics. Principles, design & construction of a 2 legged walking robot. ( Participation certificates will be issued to all the participants.) 3. The Workshop material consists of a Robotics kit including Electronic components, wires, sleeves, Mechanical appendages, hardware and all miscellaneous materials and tools needed for construction. 4. The seats are limited to 50 teams on a first come, first serve basis. One and two member teams are suggested. Teams may be a maximum of three people. However, a small team size is beneficial for better learning. 5. The participating students must be prepared for and accept fully, extensive Physics, Electronics and Mechanical and physical work during the Workshop. The workshop is purely hands-on practical sessions and involves physical construction and experimentation. The Kit consists of take-home materials used to construct the various Robots of the respective Modules. 6. We are a dedicated Group with the firm commitment of educating the students with a Practical and Design oriented approach, without ensuing dependence. We follow the unconventional method where WE ALL LEARN TOGETHER. We encourage interaction and individual ideas rather than a stereotype group activity. Our Philosophy is to let you discover your talents yourself. 7. The Theory will be at minimum need-to-know fundamentals, without recourse to higher levels. This is in view of the different backgrounds of the participants and the time available. The Stress is on Hands-on Construction and "PRACTICALITY". The concerned theory will be propagated through the interactive desk-to-desk, personal transactions of the Instructor during the entire period of the workshop. 8. The workshop will be for 3 whole days, between 9:30am to 5:30pm. The number of working hours includes Lunch and 2 short breaks. The students are free to work beyond the stated timings, if they feel inclined to do so.
