M Tech in Nanotechnology– Amrita/DST PG Program
(UGC and AICTE recognized)
The M Tech program leans strongly towards hands-on work and is not just a degree based on theory classes. Students are trained in the Center’s nanotechnology labs and get an opportunity to participate in the Center's funded research projects grants. All M Tech students are expected to complete thesis work in nanosciences under guidance of the faculty.
The program also offers clinical exposure in one of the many operation theatres of the hospital to help students develop an understanding of the medical applications of nanotechnology. In short, this is a pioneering program that aims to develop an all-round scientist and technologist with interdisciplinary specialization in three areas -- nanotechnology, biotechnology and medical sciences. The first batch of students began in August 2007.
A separate teaching facility has classrooms, a library and faculty offices as well as two teaching labs, a microbiology lab, a cell culture lab, an animal lab and a computer lab. In addition, various labs at the ACNS Research Center are also available for students to carry out their project work.
