Amrita Centre for Nanosciences - Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham Cochin, Kerala

Applications are immediately invited for the Master of Technology (MTech) degree program in Nanomedical Sciences offered by the Amrita Centre for Nanosciences, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Cochin, Kerala, India. This is the first ever-pioneering MTech program to be offered in India in this rapidly growing field of enormous technological and medical impact. Admissions will be competitive and upto thirty students will be initially admitted to this unique program.

This program provides state-of-the-art exposure to latest advances in nanosciences with emphasis on biomedical applications. Students will take courses taught by both engineering and medical faculty, obtain hands-on experience in cutting-edge nanosciences labs and complete a Master’s thesis in the Nanomedical sciences area. Students will also receive a medical hospital internship for first-hand understanding of clinical needs relevant to nanosciences.

Students graduating from this program are expected to receive immediate placement in pharmaceutical companies, biotechnology labs and biological research centers around the country.

Eligibility:
Applicants must have one of the following: BTech (Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Bioengineering, Biomedical engineering); MSc (Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry ,Biotechnology, Physics); MBBS; BDS; MPharm.

Application Process:
Application deadline is April 29, 2007. There will be an entrance exam on May 13 followed by an interview the following day. GATE students, depending on their GATE performance, may receive direct admission without entrance or interview, or they may receive a waiver of entrance exam. Offer of admission will be made following interview to successful candidates no later than May 15. Fees will be due June 1..
