A Hike in the Rain
ASB and FUN ? Sounded Strange! Were we wrong or were we wrong! Trekking was one event that altered our thinking. With the onset of life at ASB, the students for whom the times to come were looking threateningly intense, it was an exhilarating relief to breathe in some altitudinal air.

Convocation 2007
Coimbatore, 19th May, 2007 - The fourth convocation of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham (Amrita University) was held on Saturday, 19th May, 2007 at the Ettimadai, Coimbatore campus. Dr. T. Ramasami, Secretary, Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India delivered the convocation address.

A month long preparations, sleepless nights and sad grades…and finally the D-Day is here….Dec 1 2006, the 9th Pragati of ASB. I got up at 5:00 in the morning today… I have never been up so early even for my semester exams!!!!! I reached college at 6:30 to see activity in just about every corner of ASB….the College looked like a beautiful bride all decked up and ready to welcome the participants, judges, press, everybody…the elephant mountains looked all the more proud today to represent ASB…More »

On the eve before Diwali, we actually thought that we would not be able to celebrate diwali here, as very less number of students was available and we had a feeling that, in South India Diwali is not celebrated in a great manner. But every presumption went wrong when in the evening we found a huge crowd bursting crackers on the ground and also doing ‘Arti’. More »

It was truly an “out-of-the world” experience. The excitement and anticipation of days culminated at the Sri Krishna Hall today when Dr. K. Kasturirangan, whose name has almost become synonymous with India’s space programme took time off from his hectic schedule to spend some time with us.

Many of the first years, after their orientation, still have nightmares, where balance sheets and profit and loss accounts haunt them. The second years on the other hand are preoccupied, worrying about the possible terrifying questions the faculty might shoot at them during their summer project presentations. But the trip to Thirumurthy waterfalls switched all our worries off.

After a morning of formal welcome to ASB the ice breaking session was surely a welcome change. We had become jittery and nervous about our stay in ASB. A small chat with the alumni who seemed to be in love with ASB , made us breathe easy. By high tea, the ice had already begun to melt.

"Workshop with a difference”- The line might sound clichéd but for the students of Amrita it is a remarkable experience of interactive learning with fun through a simple way that we all seem to have forgotten……GAMES!! The workshop is held by Mr. Paul Mathew, Director of Academy for Transformational Learning, Chennai. He taught us simple but innovative ways of handling pressure.

Blessed were the Amritaites when they had the opportunities to see the God’s drive down the roads of Amrita Vidyapeetham. Yes, they were here on an invitation, to join the Janmashtami celebration, the birthday of Lord Krishna. The grandeur of the occasion with all the gods (children beautifully dressed as the gods) in their divine splendor was a sight to behold.
