Gen-M is marketing forum of Amrita School of Business, Ettimadai. It has been one of the most active forums throughout its lifetime. During PRAGATI, like all other forums, Gen-M is also very actively involved in developing quality management games. These games have been well received by all the participants.
GLADIATOR and SOMORSALT were the two games developed by Gen-Mites for Pragati 2005. The best manager game of Pragati is the responsibility of our forum and we take great pride in developing this game. Though the game changed, the name Gladiator was not changed. In Gladiator 2005, the participant adorned the role of a CEO. The settings were the medieval period when international trade was done using ships. The world was divided into five civilizations, like Indus valley, Mesopotamia, Chinese, etc. the participants were given some money to start with and they ad to conduct trade between these civilizations. The winner of this round was the person who made the maximum profit. Then they moved onto the next round which was a stress interview.
Somorsalt was a pure marketing game. It was a team game. Here, each of the teams were asked to create a fast food restaurant chain. The name of the game, therefore was very apt- so mor(e) salt. They had to determine the 4Ps, namely product, price, place and promotion. Once they determined the 4Ps, the participating teams were given a hypothetical situation that might cause harm to their business and were asked as to how they would respond. In the next round the teams had to create ads for promoting their food chain.
The marketing forum for the academic year 2006-07 was inaugurated on September 11, 2006 by Mr. Sriram Devanathan. The new torchbearers of Gen-M are Ajit Mohan, Anju Nayar, Deepak Jayakumar, Ivan Xavier and Sajit B. the support committee consists of Ananya, Mihir, Ramakant and Sreejith. We are actively striving to create new games for Pragati 2006, which are innovative and informative, traits visible in all the Gen-M games. We expect all the participants of this year’s Pragati to enjoy these games just the way in which they have adored the previous games.
Wishing you all the very best.
