A Workshop on Media Planning by Mr Sudhakar Jayaram
"Endearing, Enriching and Entertaining"
“Our main aim is to give our viewers something that is truly endearing, enriching and entertaining” said the proud CEO of Amrita TV, Mr Sudhakar Jayaram. After having spoken about media and society in the colloquium, Mr Sudhakar went on to conduct a very informative workshop on Media Planning.
The topic being very novel and exciting attracted a huge audience. It was structured and contributed to value addition in an enormous way. Mr Jayaram started by familiarizing the class with terms such as media weight, media vehicle and the like. He introduced the tenets of media planning and the various nuances in strategies and approaches. He also discussed in length new concepts such as constraint based pricing, opportunity to see (OTS), brand development index, category development index etc. Mr Jayaram also threw light on the industry in India and the current trends and practices adopted by Industry leaders such as MindShare. The workshop was participatory and every student was given the opportunity to contribute to the topic and ask questions.
What made the workshop really enriching was also the experiences shared by Mr Jayaram from his life, which he used to explain the various aspects of the subject. He also spoke to the students about careers and goal setting. He said it is really the depth of knowledge and understanding i.e. the ability to realize what is genuine combined with willingness to innovate that makes a manager with a difference. Having worked in different industries in senior management posts, Mr Jayaram clearly stands apart in clarity of thought and precision in delivery.
Mr Jayaram , a devotee of Amma, attributed his success and well being to Her blessings. He motivated the students to always keep in mind Amma’s words “Failure is only success delayed”. Last but not the least, this workshop was truly one of its kind which brings us to where we started from “endearing enriching and entertaining”
