"UTSAV", is the festival of the ASBians, by the ASBians and for the ASBians in every sense. It is a sports and cultural extravaganza lasting for four days and the proud ASBians, divided into four groups compete with each other for the prestigious rolling trophy..
It was a riot of colors, a celebration of talent, of teamwork and creativity... It was celebration time at ASB again… It was Utsav again…..
The much awaited annual cultural fest of Amrita School of Business was inaugurated by the dean Mr.V.S.Somanath on amidst much fanfare. As the first step of the week long celebrations, the entire college was divided into 4 teams- Raagam, Thaalam, Bhaavam and Layam- comprising of both the first and the second year students. And then... the fun or rather all the work began…..
It was hard work for the core committee comprising of six first year students- Aneesh, Bijith, Bikash, Jeevitha, Navneeth and Tinu- organizing and conducting the whole festival. They came up with an impressive list of events that challenged the abilities of the students to the extreme.
There were events like Brand Wars and Best Manager which brought out the business acumen and marketing skills of the students. Events like True Lies and Shipwreck provided a lot of fun moments as the students came up with very amusing stuff. Events like Collage, Tableau, Mime and Drama became a platform for the students to portray the injustice and problems existing in today’s society from farmer suicides to the plight of tsunami victims, from environmental pollution to match- fixing, from the ill- treatment of women to the callousness of the modern society. And then there were events that called for pure enjoyment- song and dance events that had the crowd on its feet all the time. Apart from arts there were sports events like Cricket, Football, Basketball, Badminton etc…
All the four teams put up a good fight and the enthusiasm of the students was infectious. The festival culminated with the Foundation Day celebrations where we had Mr. Vijay Menon as our Chief Guest. An excellent orator, he kept the audience glued to their seats with his speech on culture, ethics and values and their importance in today’s world.
Then it was time for the final results to be announced. After a week of hard work and intense competition, Team Bhaavam was adjudged the winner with Layam coming a close second.
The celebrations were over and again it was time to get back to our books……. |
