 The lecture on Business Basics by Mr.Jairam Varadharj took us through the process of building a business starting from the need or the goal, which initiates the process till the execution of it, which leads to ultimate success. The goal according to him is common for all business practices. That is the goal to create wealth .All the objectives of the business are based on this goal or that which helps us to attain it.
It is the ability to translate your objectives into strategies and strategies into execution that brings the grand finale of success. It is a usual misconception that forming a good strategy is the only sine quo non-for winning. But business has failed not because of lack of a good strategy but the inability to execute them.
Execution is much difficult than planning because a strategy may be the brainchild of a single manger or a two. But execution demands the involvement and dedication of all the employees including the laborer in the shop floor to the top CEO. This involvement and dedication would come only when all the employees eat, drink and breathe the same goal.
Aspiration is more powerful than any technology or capital. Alignment and focus of the goal is that which creates the aspiration.
Therefore the test for the manger is not in developing a strategy but taking the whole team of employees along with him, making them cherish the same goal and make them sweat out to execute the strategy and make the goal come true.
