DAY 1
"UTSAV", is the festival of the ASBians, by the ASBians and for the ASBians in every sense. It is a sports and cultural extravaganza lasting for four days and the proud ASBians ,divided into four groups will be competing with each other for the prestigious rolling trophy..It started with a bang on the dawn of 23 August '05 with the sports events (prelims), the first event being volleyball. More than the bitter fierceness which one would expect from mutually competing groups,it was good to see the exhibition of determination and killer instinct without defering from the path of healthy sportsmanship..
While the energetic ones tried their luck on the ground, the dreamy literary geniuses opened their world of imagination in the evening. The story writers wrote their hearts out on the topic "Intimacy". When the brainies tumbled on "Topsy Turvy"(Jumbles), the good humored ones tried looking things differently from a comic angle and sketched cartoons on "Indian Parlimentary System".
The gala cultural events began in the evening at Sri Krishna Hall. The creativity and the innovativeness of the students coming to light was symbolically represented by the lighting of lamp before Amma, by our beloved professors Dr.Deepak Gupta and Sri Naveen Namperumal.Mock press marked the beginning of four day long cultural celebrations.Lallooji,Big B and teen sensation Sania Mirza in their humorous best came alive on stage. Tricky questions posed by the judges and the audience and the tit for tat answers given by the participants made the hall rolling with laughter and applause.
The last item of the day was "ASB Idol ", the solo song competition. The sweetness of"Aapki Nazaroon ne samjha...",the depth of "Mere Humsafar...."and the sensuosness of " Jaadu hai nasha hai..."took audience in hands. The standing ovation for the perfectly rendered "Shankara..." will always be remembered by each and everyone in the audience. The soulful "Thanhaii..." stirred the heart of all. The day came to an end with the deeply touching and well laid "Nilaa Kaikirathu..."

'Mahalakshmiyae...', this was the long call which marked the beginning of day 3 of Utsav'05. It was the "Just split"(mono act) competetion.the picture perfect portrayal of the trauma of the aged, showed the bundle of hidden talent in the aspiring managers. When the portrayal of the drunkard and the destitute shook the heart of many, the humorous portrayal of our own classrooms and teachers provided the lighter side to the entire show.
Then came the future marketing managers in their full form in "Adzap" competition. They were trying to sell unusual products like 'Mistan-the laughing machine' and the 'Dream control software'. the humor content, the punch lines used and the presentation skills were par excellence.
From here on, the foot tapers carried the show on their shoulders. The "step n sync"competition became a rage with the audience. The program co-coordinators had a difficult time to keep the dancing audience in their seats. The perfection and synchronization on stage reflected the level of hard work the participants had put in . The innovative choreography of 'Entrentrum punnaghai....'and the perfect synchronization in 'Sarakku vachirikken..' went along very well with the audience.
While the stage shows rocked the campus, the artists were involved in sketching their "Dreams". The variety of interpretation that they gave for the word Dream was amazing. The tragedy involved in 'Natural Disasters' were incorporated in its full strength in "Collage" competition. Heart rending presentation and picturisation made the event beyond comparison.
The day ended with "Tableau". Huge settings, perfect modellings, apt attires and highly thought provoking themes were the highlights of the event. The portrayal of the pathetic situation of the street beggars, the serenity of a village and the scene from sholay were picture perfect.

Then, it was the time for the actors and directors to show their talent .On stage, were adaptations from O Henry’s ‘Last Leaf’’, a scene from Da Vinci’s life. Certain original scripts with innovative ideas like that of ‘Experience is Guru’ and the trauma of a highly evolved man among a group of tribes demand special mentioning.

The highly energetic “Chappa chappa….” And its beautiful choreography set high standards for the rest of the teams.
Foundation Day
“UTSAV” A weak full of cultural and sports events at ASB came to an end with a grand celebration of the Foundations day on 31st September 2005. To grace the occasion we had with us Mr. Vijay Menon, Vice President Nagarjuna Ayurvedic Groups.
In his welcome address the Dean Dr. Sushil Kumar emphasized on the importance of a strong foundation in every manager’s life and the importance of such events in laying it. He drew an analogy between a dance and life by stating that in both transformations happens when people come together, creating synergy and harmony. As an example he stated the transformation that a seed undergoes when it converts into a blossoming tree there by giving out fragrance and producing million more seeds. He wished all students a life full of such transformations.
This was followed by Mr.Vijay Menon’s enthusiastic and a very inspiring speech that emphasized on the importance of self-empowerment. He quoted an anecdote of a child, who was saved from drowning, by an old man and on being thanked by the child, asked the child to make his life so meaningful so that it would make him proud of having saved it. To achieve this self-empowerment he stated the importance of introspection in one’s life, originality and also the importance of being good. In stating this he used the example of the parting advice of Shakuntala to her husband of retaining his originality despite of all odds. His immense knowledge of different subjects and his way of delivering the speech left everyone spellbound. He gave many instances of Swami Vivekanda’s life that gave the best-known example of a person to have self-empower himself. He concluded his talk by mentioning the fact, that no human being can be motivated by another, without his own initiation. At last he mentioned that the students of Amrita School of Business will surely not only be good corporate leaders but will also be good human beings.
Various cultural events followed the speech, which included some of the prize-winning events of UTSAV’05 and a presentation about the “Amrita community outreach program” that has been successfully running with excellent results for the past few months. The wonderful day marked its end with dinner for the chief guest, faculty members and the students.
