The R&D division of ASTHA began its functioning with a meeting organized as a platform for sharing project-ideas. It was held on 18 September at the seminar hall. We had 41 students (a majority from the first years) and six faculty members attend the gathering. After briefing the audience about the reason for conducting the meeting, the stage was left open for enthusiastic students and staff to share their project ideas. In the succeeding one and half hours, we learnt about the interests and plans of 15 student members and four staff members. The teachers put forth their ideas inviting likeminded students to approach them, while the students talked about their plans expecting guidance and help from both the student and teaching fraternity. The 15 who came forward have been asked to prepare a short write up on the course of action they would follow. The members who remained passive during the meeting, have been given more time to think about ideas and would be asked to present them in the next meeting scheduled for the beginning of October. A database containing the research interests of the student and the faculty members would be uploaded to the ASTHA website soon.
