A Journey to remember | Photo gallery >>

Battling against the brute force of sleep & braving the chilly morning breeze, we a huge group of 50 Asthans along with accompanying staff set forth to a memorable learning experience to Valparai, a picturesque hill station located some 4 hours from Ettimadai. The tempo of the trip was set by a spot of “Antakshari” in the bus with the melodies of today and yesteryears as we traversed through the hilly routes amidst 40 hairpin bends. We reached our destination finally at 12 in the noon. Immediately all the eager spirits set trekking towards the “Valparai Falls” amidst exotic scenic lush greenery surrounded by tea plantations on all sides. The river gushing amidst this exquisite greenery made us feel like we are on the 7th heaven. Then began, the most “challenging” part of our trip. Trekking our way amidst huge rocks & slippery boulders to reach the falls, we kept up our zealous mood. While some of us found the climb to be an “ordeal”, the rest, climbed up with ease as if they were born to do it.

Finally on reaching the falls, everyone had a time of their life, enjoying themselves in the crystal cool clear water. Then after a climb back to Valparai city & a satiating lunch we set off to learn more about the tea processing factory. The factory guides vividly explained the various processes that go into the conversion of the hand-picked tea leaves into finely powdered packaged tea. Finally in spite of all the tired bones in our body, the zest in us wasn’t lost & we returned back to College singing & cheering to the nostalgic remembrances of a memorable trip.
