» To track ongoing developments in science and technology, conceive and execute projects enabling students to understand the intricacies of the subject and to find practical and viable implementations. This shall be the grooming ground for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. “Astha” shall be the platform for Faculty members to present their Project ideas inviting students who are interested to join the project, and the same platform shall be given to students as well to present their Project ideas inviting faculty members for guidance and other students to join their project. All the projects will be well documented and the participating members will have the rights on the work done by then based on the current intellectual property rights and regulations.
» To Organize popular lectures/ talks by Amrita fraternity and Guest speakers

1. Some of these lectures/ talks could be recorded and post produced to create our own media based knowledge content. This will add to the existing knowledge base of Institutional Video Repository.
2. Transcript and presentations of certain selected talks/lectures could be posted on “Astha” website as well.
3. Encourage Astha members to make short documentaries and media based learning objects.
4. Knowledge thus built along with the existing VIDYA repository could lead to the establishment of Astha’s learning Resource Centre. |
» To organize the screening of documentaries and video recording of talks by eminent people from all over the world and initiate discussions on the subject
» To organize outreach activities and Science & Technology Popularization activities in our schools and other schools around. Competitions to develop Innovative demonstrations explaining science and technology oriented concepts would be conducted.

1. This involves going to schools to address the teachers and students
2. Some of our media content could be translated into the regional language , post-produced and screened/ distributed.
3. These activities could later seek the support of Government bodies like Indian Academy of Sciences and the UNESCO. |
» To bring out a monthly newsletter and its web edition.
This newsletter will have the reports on all the activities of Astha, updates on the projects underway and articles from the Faculty and Student fraternity. Students could be motivated to write general articles on science and technology topics of their interest or of their specialization. This could be organized in the form of essay competitions and the best of them could be sent for journals like Resonance (that promotes students’ writing)
» To collaborate with our other campus and organize joint activities.
» To Promote Interdisciplinary Activities
Once the students develop awareness about the happenings in other fields apart from theirs (through the above said popularization effort), the forum could motivate them to take up project works that are interdisciplinary in nature.
