Microsoft International Project Award presented to Amrita University CSE students

Microsoft, the world’s largest IT company has awarded the prestigious “Microsoft Best Project Prize” to Mr. Praveen Kumar R, Mr. Ragesh R Santhanam, and Mr. Srivathsan K, students of the Final year Bachelor of Engineering (Computer Science and Engineering) at Amrita School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham (Deemed University). The award, which carries a citation and cash prize of Rs. 75,000/-, was given for their project titled “iTRUST – An End to End Trust Based Model for Access Control”. The presentation was made at the “Microsoft Academic Projects” National level Expo held at Bangalore on 24th April 2006. They had carried out the project under the guidance of our distinguished staff Dr.Satya Sai Prakash, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engg. and their internal guides were Ms. Smitha and Ms.Gowri from the same department.

THIS IS AN INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION AND AMRITA UNIVERSITY HAS WON THE TOP PRIZE IN INDIA.

This is a highly creditable achievement considering the fact that

* Over 7000 projects were registered from 482 cities and towns all over India.

*The judges were drawn from the best academic institutions and industry in India like IIT-Bombay, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and Microsoft.

*The public was also asked to rate the projects.AND This project proved best in all aspects.

“iTRUST” is a project that enables control over the access to the resources such as printers, files, web access, email, database, etc., based on the human psychological notion of trust.

This international recognition to Amrita students speaks volumes of the academic excellence prevalent at Amrita University. The Undergraduate engineering programs in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics and Communication, Mechanical, Electrical and Polymer Engineering are on par with the best in India and abroad.
