Elements of information theory; formal definition of information content and redundancy. Fixed and variable length codes; optimal coding Measure of information, entropy, information rate-Shannon’s theorems on channel capacity Data Compression Codes: Sampling Theorem-Baseband and Passband Sampling-Scalar quantization-Vector quantization -trellis type quantization.
Error Correcting Codes: Introduction to coding theory-algebra of groups and fields-Polynomials over finite fields-Irreducible polynomials-Minimum polynomials—
