Coimbatore, 19th May, 2007 - The fourth convocation of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham (Amrita University) was held on Saturday, 19th May, 2007 at the Ettimadai, Coimbatore campus. Dr. T. Ramasami, Secretary, Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India delivered the convocation address. Sampujya Swami Amritaswarupananda Puri, President of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham and Vice Chairman of Mata Amritanandamayi Math presided over the function and delivered the benedictory address.

About 1300 students from Amrita campuses at Coimbatore, Amritapuri and Kochi received their degree certificates during this function. Around 50 rank holders in various streams were also presented with medals, degrees and rank certificates by Dr. Ramasami and Swamiji.

Brahmachari Abhayamrita Chaitanya, Chief Operating Officer welcomed the gathering. Dr. P. Venkat Rangan, Vice-Chancellor presented a report of the university.

Dr. S. Krishnamoorthy, Registrar presented the rank holders and medal winners. Dr. Prem Nair, Director-Health Sciences presented the first Ph.D of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Mr. Subir Kumar Das from Amrita School of Medicine to Swamiji for conferring of the degree. Chief Guest, Dr. T. Ramasami presented the degree to Mr. Subir Das.
