About the department

At the inception of Amrita Institute of Technology and Science in 1994, two departments Chemistry and Physics were started to do teaching work of the Science courses in the B Tech Programme. To make the department more academically cohesive and interdisciplinary, in 2006 the department of Physics and Chemistry were merged as a single department called Department of Sciences. Presently the department, in addition to teaching B Tech Science courses, is also pursuing research activities both in academic and externally funded projects. A number of Faculty members are pursuing their PhD programmes. This has resulted in publications in various national and International refereed journals. Department has a couple of funded projects and has acquired several equipments to do basic research.
