Dr.T R Padmanabhan joined in June 1999 as the Head of the Department of Information Technology. He succeeded Dr.N.Narayana Pillai as the Principal of School of engineering, Ettimadai from 1 June, 2001. After Serving as Dean of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, he is currently the Professor Emiritus.

He completed his B.Sc.(Engg) in Electrical Engineering from University of Kerala and M.Tech and Ph.D in Control Systems from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. From 1964 to 1979 he taught at IIT, Kharagpur and later held senior research positions in Tata Iron & Steel Co., Jamshedpur, Crompton Greaves Ltd , Mumbai and Premier Polytronics Ltd, Coimbatore. He is an academician par excellence with a wide exposure into the industrial world as well. He has presented papers, delivered lectures, chaired sessions in a number of Seminars/Symposia.
