Amrita School of Education at Mysore Campus has an
annual scheme with value based curricula having credit
based assesment.. This allows flexibility on courses,
time frame, teaching and learning, evaluation procedures
and mobility. It provides an internationally accepted
system, which benefits the students. Knowing the system
is important to gain from it. This brief write-up is
provided for understanding the basic features of the
credit-based system of education.
It is one year of Annual Scheme with two Official Terminal
Tests and one University Examination both in Theory
and Practical (in the Methodology Subjects). Total number
of working days shall be 220 days and Practice in teaching
shall be for 48 days excluding Microteaching Programme.
There shall be mid-sessional holidays which shall be
specified later.. The College shall have medium of instruction
both in Kannada and English separately. Students shall
be sent to schools for Practice in teaching as per the
medium. Teacher trainees can use in any medium irrespective
of the medium opted for Practice in Teaching or theory
classes.

There shall be Community Service by visiting villages
with pre-planned projects and programmes. This will
be done periodically after surveying the need and demand
of the villages. At least four visits will be made.
Work will be allotted to groups on rotation. Major themes
will be ‘Education’ (Basic Literacy, Health
and Hygiene, Crafts, Women Empowerment, Life Skills,
Budgeting, Teaching to convert Leisure to pleasure and
treasure, General Cleanliness, Awareness to Social Evils
and Environment through various Cultural Programmes,
Rain Water Harvesting, Nutrition and Constructive work
for all).
