Central Library @ Amritapuri Campus

The central library of Amritapuri Campus serves students and faculty by providing reading material – both printed and non-printed - and access to the Web, online journals, online books, reference books and digital libraries.

Material for self-directed learning and research is also available. Schools of Ayurveda and Biotechnology house additional libraries, as well.

The central library has a collection of over 28,000 volumes and subscriptions to over 100 periodicals in print. The library subscribes to IEEE Xplore & ASME online journals through INDEST consortium. Students can access these journals from anywhere within the campus.

As part of the Indo-US MoU, the campus has access to the digital collection of the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo. Through this, faculty and students can access thousands of international Journals from IEEE Xplore, Science Direct, EBSCO, INSPEC, Emerald, Cambridge Online, Institute of Physics Journals, ERIC Database, ACM Digital Library, etc.

Vidya – an online knowledge archive brings in quality teaching and learning material from some of the best universities and organizations of the world. Every year, on an average, 3500 books and journal volumes are added to its collection.

Text Books - Reference

The user community of the central library is composed of mainly students and faculty. The academic course structure of the University is such that various sets of text books are prescribed. The library, therefore, maintains a separate collection of copies of such books for use within the library itself.

Institutional Repository

The digital repository collects and disseminates the research output of the faculty, staff and students of Amritapuri Campus. It enables the Amrita community to deposit their pre-prints, publications, lecture notes, etc., using a web interface. These materials are organized for easy retrieval.

The digital repository runs on DSpace, an open source software that complies with the Open Archives Initiative (OAI) framework, allowing publications to be easily indexed and searchable by web search engines and other indexing services.
