About
The Library of the Amrita School of Engineering which was established in the year 2002, serves as knowledge hub containing resources not only in the form of print but also in e-resources. In any academic institution Library plays an important role in the dissemination of knowledge. Amrita School of Engineering Bangalore, less than 7 years old, has recognized the importance of the academic vibrations required in the library and has been growing in this direction, right from its very inception.
WEB OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) allows users to search all materials available in the library collection. Only Library Members can access Full text and Digital material by using their User ID and Password.
Collections:
The Library aims to put the motto: “Books are for use”, into practice. The library houses Text books, Reference Books, Print & e-journals and magazines, News papers, CD’s, Course Material, Question papers, Project reports, Bound volumes etc., We take pride in saying that we have very good collection of books. Added to this, we have a wide collection of general books which help to increase the knowledge of our students in different fields.

SUNY BUFFALO UNIVERSITY E-RESOURCES: As part of the Indo-US program, the campus has access to digital collection of State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo. This provides Science Direct, IEL Online etc., more than 6000+ Journals.

Vidya Digital Library: VIDYA Digital Library has a large stock of e-resources stored and mirrored for access to users in all campuses of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham. This is a local server deployed in our campus. This can be accessed from any of the computers inside the campus. This contains a huge collection of tutorial materials which we have Collected from different universities across the globe which includes Video and Audio lectures of various topics in engineering as well as non engineering. The total volume currently is 1.6 terabyte.

DELNET (ILL/Resource Sharing): The library is a member of the DELNET. The library maintains excellent relations with a number of major Institutions and libraries in India through DELNET , for exchange of books, journals articles for the mutual benefit of the users. It provides the delivery of individual books and journal-articles, as and when required by the member-libraries.
Library Guidelines:
Members: Students, Faculty, Staff Members, Supporting Staff
Admission to the Library: All Students of the college are admitted as members of the library. Library membership forms are available at library. For using library facility, students are requested to sign the login register, which is kept in the library entrance. Every member shall be required to deposit his/her personal belongings at the counter kept at the entrance. Entrance to library is not permitted without ID card.
Borrowing Details:

| PG Courses | Books will be issued for a period of 10 days. |
| Faculty | 10 Books will be issued for a period of one month |
| Staff members | 2 Books will be issued for a period of one month |
OPEN ACCESS SYSTEM:
The Library books have been computerized and users can search the documents through OPAC-ONLINE PUBLIC ACCESS CATALOGUE by Title wise –Author wise – Subject wise – etc,. We are following OPEN ACCESS system, Students can select the required books directly from the shelf for reference & borrowing purpose.

SC/ST Book Bank Service
Library provides a additional book bank service for SC/ST students. For more details please contact Library Circulation counter staff.
Reference Material & Reference Section
Library has a separate Reference section. Good collection of books for reference purposes are maintained. Reference books, Journals, Magazines , Newspapers, project reports, question papers, Placement materials, course materials, Lecture notes are considered as a reference materials.
Loss of Book
Loss of library book must be brought to the attention of the librarian immediately on occurrence and the replacement cost of the material should be paid immediately. If notification is made after the book is overdue, the borrower will also be responsible for the overdue charge. If a book belonging to a set is lost, the borrower will be charged for replacement of the entire set. In case a student loses the book, he/she is be expected to replace the book with processing charge Rs. 50/-. If he/she do so, he/she has to pay five times the amount of the book.
Condition of Loan
Library cards are not transferable. The borrower is fully responsible for the books borrowed on his/her card. In case there is demand from more than one student for the same book, they will be issued based on the reservation made (Online reservation facility available in OPAC).
Over Due
Materials borrowed from the library are to be returned on or before the due date (10 days) . On the expiry of due date, Rs.1/- per day will be charged for books. On the expiry of due date, two reminders will be sent. Non-receipt of reminders is no reason for returning books late. Absence is not accepted as excuse for non payment of overdue charge. If the due date falls on college holiday, the book may be returned on the next working day, without overdue charge. If students fail to return the books within the above stipulated period, such students library membership will be canceled for certain period. Recall: In exceptional cases or during need, the librarian may recall the book before it’s due date.
Care of Library Materials
a) Library books, Journals and other reading/reference materials are expensive and often rare to replace. They are for the benefit of not only the present but also the future members of the library. Therefore, they should be used with care and consideration. No one should write upon, damage, turn down the leaves of, or mark upon any library material.
b) Before leaving the library, the member should satisfy himself/herself as to whether the library material lent to him/her is in sound condition. If not, he/she should immediately bring the matter to the knowledge of the circulation section staff. Otherwise he/she is liable to be held responsible for the replacement of the material or pay such compensation as fixed by the librarian.

Clearance Certificate
Library books are the property of the library and are to be returned. Dues, if any, should be paid and a clearance certificate should be obtained for them from the librarian atleast a week before the date of convocation or Terminating connection with the college.
Photocopying & colour print Service
Students can get photocopy & colour Print of the material in the library, if required by them.
Damaging of books not allowed
Marking, writing and tearing the pages of the books are not allowed. Overnight issue: Reference books can be borrowed for over-night issue, before closing the library (half an hour before) & return before 8.30am next day, otherwise Rs.50/-(Rupees Fifty only) per day fine will be charged on the same. Reservation Facility: Book reservation facility is available for users, by prior registration Register your name in register for reservation. 24 hours/ one day only Reserved books available for issue, after that it will goes to next users account.
Book Exhibition/ Bookshop visit
Every semester/ year, we are conducting Book exhibition/Bookshop visit for the benefit of our faculties, staffs and students.
Donations to the library
This library accepts donations of books, Journals, Magazines, special publications, audio-visual aids etc.,
Mobile Phone
Carrying & use of cellular mobile phones within the college campus/ library is banned. If we find any student violating this rules will lose the library membership for certain period & cell phone will be handed over to the Principal / Administrative officer for further action.
Library Advisory Committee
Library Advisory Committee is functioning to look into all aspects of continual improvement of the library activities, so that the library and its facilities achieve a fair degree of acceptability amongst the users. This Committee, co-coordinated by a senior professor of the institute, as the chairman, has faculty-representatives and student-nominees as members, the librarian is the ex-officio convener of the committee.
Suggestion box
The suggestion box kept in the entrance of the library is frequently used for eliciting not only complaints but constructive suggestions for improvement of library services. Valid feedback obtained through this source are promptly followed.
General Instructions:
- Maintain silence, keeping in mind that the library is a place for individual study and research.
- No refreshments or foodstuff of any kind shall be either be carried or consumed anywhere inside the library.
- Please switch off mobile phone inside the library.
- You are requested to leave the book on the reading table after use.
- Please switch off unwanted lights, fans & help in saving electricity
- Suggestions for improving the library services are most welcome.
