About the Centre  
   

The Centre is situated at the Main Campus of the Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham at Ettimadai, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu with off Campuses at Amritapuri, Vallikavu and AIMS at Kochi in Kerala and at Bangalore in Karnataka. The environmental activities came into effect when Amrita Institute of Technology was established in 1995. The programmes undertaken earlier consisted of the Campus development, tree planting and nature conservation.

The facilities presently available include enough land, access to the Western Ghats, Tree plantations with over 140 species, organically managed Coconut farm, Sewage effluent recycling plants using bioremediation techniques, recycling of plant-animal wastes through vermiculture and composting, an environment lab and a farm at Walayar in a different agroclimatic condition.
