Executive Summary

It envisages development of a novel polymer [polyamide type] based on modified cardanol obtained from a natural resource  [ viz. cashew nut shell liquid]. Different aromatic and aliphatic amines would be used for the purpose.The polymers synthesized would be characterized using physical and spectroscopic techniques.  The mechanical behaviour and thermal properties would be evaluated.  Studies would be carried out for utilizing the polyamides in developing composites and molded products for Defence & Aerospace applications.
