The goal of this project is to provide young students (elementary to high school level) living in remote villages of India access to learning tools they wouldn’t normally have.
Our platform, the OLPC (One Laptop per Child), is the product of an initiative to develop low-price computers for children in developing countries headed by MIT and backed by many companies. These laptops have already been developed, manufactured, and distributed in some areas. However, there is still a need for applications to run on the laptops. The UT Austin – Amrita University team plans to develop hardware and software applications for the OLPC. The goal of this sub-team (Long Distance Learners) is to develop an e-Learning application that can be installed and run on the OLPC and other machines.
Three students from 8th semester B.Tech -I T are doing this project under the guidance of Dr. Vicky Almstrum & Dr. Tony Ambler from UT, Austin and Br. Anand Shenoy & Aswathy Asok from Amrita.
