Europe Visits

Ms. Maneesha V Ramesh, faculty of CSE, and Brni. Rehna Raj, Research Associate, from Amritapuri campus, are visiting various European universities. Ms. Maneesha is the lead for the project funded by the European Commission, called WINSOC (www.winsoc.org). This very interesting project explores the development and experimental deployment of clusters of wireless sensor networks interconnected by satellite networks for wide area monitoring of landslides. Maneesha has presented the research updates at the European Commission in Belgium. She is also presenting her research work titled: "Using Wireless Sensor Networks to Detect Rainfall Induced Landslides" at the different European Universities. The research team is using this opportunity to visit many universities in Europe to brief on research activities and other opportunities for both faculty and students at Amrita University. These include expenses paid, teaching opportunities, and research at Amrita for faculty from European universities. The team met prominent professors and researchers at the following European Universities. |

Dr. Krishna Sree Achuthan, Program Co-Director of Indo-US International Initiatives, visits European universities.
Dr Krishna is the Program Co-Director, Indo-US and International Initiatives at Amrita University, and until recently was based in San Francisco Bay Area, United States of America. She has a Ph.D. in Semiconductor Fabrication from Wayne State University, and over 28 US Patents to her credit. She has had key roles in the Indo-US Inter-University Collaborative Initiative for Higher Education and Research, signed into agreement in 2005 by about 20 of the top US Universities including Harvard, Princeton, SUNY Buffalo, etc. ( www.amrita.edu and www.amrita.edu/indous) as well as the University of California-India Research Initiative in 2006. Most recently, together with Maneesha Ramesh, Dr. Krishna Sree Achuthan co-presented a series of seminars on the Indo-European Winsoc Project at prominent US Universities such as UC Berkeley, UC Irvine, UCSD, Purdue, MIT, University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, and University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Krishna is also the lead faculty advisor on the Indian side for the joint Amrita-UT Austin student project effort in which a team of 10 students from Amrita and UT Austin are jointly carrying out a mega cross-continental project for their honors degree. |
