AMRITA STUDENTS OF 2007 BATCH BAG WHOPPING Rs.9 LAKHS+ PERKS OFFER FROM MICROSOFT INDIA WHO VISITED THE CAMPUS FOR RECRUITMENT ON 16 JUNE, 2006
More than 550 students of Amrita University have been placed in premier engineering companies like Microsoft, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Larsen and Toubro (L&T), Infosys, Wipro etc.
“This is a fitting climax to a very successful academic year for Amrita. All these students are third year engineering students. We have been able to place more than 70% of the students, one month before the commencement of their final year engineering classes. And also many more companies including MNCs are expected in the next couple of weeks.” says Prof. C. Parameswaran, Dean of Training and Placement of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham Deemed University.
Commenting on the recent international initiatives of the university contributing towards the academic excellence at Amrita, the Chief Operating Officer, Brahmachari Abhayamrita Chaitanya said, “There has been a quantum leap in activities during the past few years which include faculty & student exchange programmes and tie-ups with some of the leading universities in the world like Harvard, Yale, University of California, University of Milan etc.”
“This is reflected in our students achieving international accolades in academic performance like obtaining the Commonwealth, Chevening and German Academic Exchange Service – DAAD scholarships. Our students have secured admissions in top universities like Stanford, University of Texas, Purdue etc. A mechanical engineering student was selected as the outstanding foreign student at University of Aachen, Germany. A group of three computer science engineering students won the “Microsoft Best Project Prize” from over 7000 projects that were registered from 482 cities and towns all over India. In India, Amrita was the only university to have secured this honor.”
Prof. Parameswaran also added, “We have been providing specialized training and instruction in Yoga, Business English, Communication Skills and Foreign Languages like German, French and Japanese. For students inclined towards higher studies, coaching classes for GRE, GMAT, CAT and other competitive examinations has also been going on. Students are also sensitized to the rich cultural heritage of our nation through extramural lectures and workshops. The recent spurt in institutional research activities has given students the opportunity to do projects in cutting-edge interdisciplinary areas. The comments and feedback that we have received from the representatives from recruiting companies show that they are also a happy lot.”
“Amrita students are comparable with the best in the country. Every visit to this campus has been fruitful. The unique ambience and academic inputs given to the students make them on par with the best in world”, says Mr. Seetharam, Campus Ambassador of L&T. Mr. Vasudevan of TCS added, “With each passing year, the quality of Amrita students has been steadily improving”.
