Prof. P. Nagabhushan - Chairman, Committee for Post Graduate Studies and Research (CPGSR)

Prof. P. Nagabhushan, Professor from University of Mysore, is currently on sabattical with Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham as a distinguished professor. He chairsthe Committee for Post Graduate Studies and Research (CPGSR) of this university.

He was professor and chairman of department of studies in Computer Science and Board of Studies in Computer Science of the University of Mysore. He was responsible in elevating this department as a center for research activities in Computer Cognition and Recognition. He also served as Dean of Science and Technology faculty of the University of Mysore for one term. He worked at Sri Jaychamarajendra College of Engineering from 1983 to 1996 and was responsible for establishing a strong Post Graduate and research culture in Computer Science and Engineering.

He has served as an invited Professor at Tokyo Denki University, Saginaw Valley State University, USA, University of Dauphine, Paris, France, Kashmir University, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar etc. He was a visiting scientist at INRIA Rocquencourt, France. In India. He is currently on the editorial boards of various national and international journals. He has served twice as the Program chair of the National conference in Document   Analysis and Recognition

He has more than 200 research papers to his credit, out of which more than 50 are in reputed journals. He has guided ten people towards their Ph.D. He has worked on several sponsored research projects. Prominent among them are Indo-French advanced research project in Symbolic Data Analysis, DRDO research project in Multispectral classification, ISRO research project on Dimensionality reduction of multi-spectral and multitemporal
satellite images, ICMR research project on Supervised matching for the assessment of neurological disorders, UGC project on Postal automation. His areas of interest are pattern recognition, image processing, dimensionality reduction, cluster analysis, character
recognition, document image analysis, knowledge patterns, image analysis and mining and symbolic data analysis. Dr. Nagabhushan is a fellow of Institution of Engineers and life member of CSI, IUPRAI, CSI and ISTE.
