    1. Do I get an email id? Under which domain name will it be?
    Every staff who has a staff id card and on the HR rolls of the University is eligible to get an email id. The domain name is @am.amrita.edu.

    2. How do I set my password? What are the parameters?
    Password for Email. The email password for staff is different from the system login password. To change the password, you need to go to Preferences, In Login option, click Change password.  To know the parameters for creating a password, you may refer Password Policy. Single Sign-on password.  Login to windows. Press Ctrl-Alt- Del. Change the password.

    3. What are the parameters for renewing my password?
    Please check the Password Policy for finding parameters for renewal of passwords.

    4. My account has got locked. Why?
    There are several reasons why your account has got locked/blocked.

    • If you or someone else tries to login into your account with a wrong id/password for more than a specified number of times, the account gets blocked for a certain period of time.
    • When you have clicked the option to “Remember the password” in the browser, subsequent changes in password is not reflected in it. The login attempts will be made with the old remembered password. And this may result in the account getting blocked after several wrong attempts. In order to tackle this, you require to remember to reflect the change in passwords in all areas. For more details, you may contact the ICTS Help-desk.

    In case this is a persistent problem, you need to report this problem to our Help-Desk. We can help via our audit laws and security measures, to fix the problem where it originates.

    5. Can I reset my user id /password online, in case of an Account Block? How?
    No, there is no provision to change the user id provided to you by Amrita. You can however reset the password by logging a call at our help-desk, currently. However, we are in the process of making it online for your convenience.

    6. Can I apply for my user id online? How? 
    Yes, you can, in the near future. We are in the process of bringing this facility to you. Watch this space.

    7. Can I change my user id?
    No you cannot change your user id. However you may retrieve it as answered in Question 8.

    8. I forgot my user id or password? How do I retrieve it?
    You need to call ICTS Helpdesk for help in retrieving your user ID. You cannot retrieve the password. However you can reset the password, answered in Question no.5.

    9. How do I keep my user account safe?
    Please refer Best Practices/ User Accounts.

    10. I opened my mail account and now all my email is missing from webmail.  How can I move it back?

    11. I accidentally deleted some email I wanted to keep. Can it be recovered?

    12. How to create a signature for outgoing messages?
    Please go to Preferences/Mail/Signatures and follow the instructions.

    13. How to transfer mail to another computer for archive or import?

    14. Will my User Account be available after I have left the Institution? For how long?

    Every postgraduate student of the University is eligible to get an email id. Any other student who wishes to have an amrita email id is eligible if he or she is recommended by their respective chairperson.  The domain name is @am.amrita.edu.

    2. How do I set my password? What are the parameters?
    Students have a single Id & password for both email and single sign-on. You can login into windows. Press Ctrl-Alt-Del and then set your new password. Check Password Policy for checking the parameters.
