A healthcare research project at Amrita Center for Wireless Networks & Applications (AmritaWNA) has been focusing on developing affordable and indigenous sensors, healthcare data analytics techniques, and communication architectures for use in sparsely connected regions in India.

AmritaWNA Receives DST Grant for Development and Pilot Deployment of Wireless Cardiac Monitoring Device

The Instrumentation Development Program (IDP) of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Govt. of India, has extended a 2 year grant of more than Rs 4 million for further development and creation of a viable remote ECG Monitoring system for postoperative and high-risk cardiac patients. As an industry partner, Amrita Technologies will be also be a contributing entity in this project. The project is being spearheaded by Dr. Maneesha V. Ramesh from AmritaWNA, Dr. Natarajan from AIMS and Mr. Pradeep Achan from Amrita Technologies.

Amrita Professor Attends TCS Sangam 2016

​​Prof. (Dr.) Maneesha V. Ramesh, Director & Professor of Amrita Center for Wireless Networks and Applications (AmritaWNA), attended TCS Sangam 2016, on 2nd and 3rd of December, 2016, at Hyderabad. TCS Sangam is an annual meeting of the Heads of Academic Institutes. 

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham Joins UNESCO Landslides Consortium

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has become a partner of the International Consortium on Landslides (ICL). The International Consortium on Landslides (ICL), created at the Kyoto Symposium in January 2002, is an International non-governmental and non-profit scientific organization. The ICL established the International Programme on Landslides (IPL) as a programme of ICL by the 2006 Tokyo Action Plan.

Andhra Village Gets New Lifeline from Amrita Water Distribution System

Encouraged by Chancellor Mata Amritanandamayi, faculty, staff, and students from the Amrita Center for Wireless Networks and Applications (Amrita WNA), the Department of Civil Engineering, the Amrita Center for International Programs and Live-in-Labs® at Amrita University, Amritapuri campus, have implemented a sustainable solution for water collection and distribution at Gudipadu Cheruvu, an ASeRve village.

Amrita Establishes Water Distribution System for Hopeful Hearts at Uttarakhand Village

Encouraged by Chancellor Mata Amritanandamayi, a team of staff members from the Amrita Center for Wireless Networks and Applications (Amrita WNA) were sent to the remote village of Dunda in Uttarakhand to help fix a water distribution problem. This village also faced severe scarcity of water during summer.

Govt. of India Awards Prestigious Young Faculty Research Fellowship to Amrita Professors

The Department of Electronics & Information Technology, Government of India has awarded the prestigious Young Faculty Research Fellowship under Visvesvaraya PhD scheme for Electronics and IT for the year 2015-16 to Prof. Maneesha Ramesh and Prof. Shyam Diwakar of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham.

Amrita WNA Team Presents Research Work at IEEE-EMBS International Conference on Biomedical & Health Informatics 2016

A paper titled, "A Real-Time Detection and Warning of Cardiovascular Disease LAHB for a Wearable Wireless ECG Device", jointly authored by Anjali Arunan (Master's student), Rahul Krishnan (Project Associate, Amrita WNA) and Maneesha V. Ramesh ( Director, AmritaWNA) was accepted for poster presentation at the IEEE International Conference on Biomedical and Health Informatics (BHI).

University of Illinois Professor Visits Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham

Dr. Nitin Vaidya, a professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, USA, visited the Coimbatore and Amritapuri campuses between January 11th–13th, 2016. During his visit to Amrita, Dr. Vaidya gave two talks, held interactive sessions with faculty members and students, discussed potential areas of collaborations, and visited several research labs.

Dr. Millind Pimprikar, founder and chairman of CANEUS (Canada, Europe, US), an international organization that fosters the development of Micro-Nano-Technologies (MNT) for aerospace and defense applications headquartered in Montreal (Canada), recently visited the Amritapuri and Kochi campuses of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham from December 3rd - 4th, 2015.

Amrita Water Distribution System- Water Management in Rural India

For many villagers in India, collecting and carrying water is part of their daily routine. However, villagers often have to walk several kilometers to collect water necessary for themselves and their families, sometimes walking several times a day. Many villagers, especially women, collect and carry between 200 and 500 liters of water per day for their families and cattle.

Amrita Micro Hydro Electric System- Illuminating Rural India via Renewable Resources

Many villages in India do not have access to electricity. Villages that do receive power, do so intermittently and with frequent disruption, making the supply of electricity unreliable. Komalikudi, a tribal settlement in Kerala well-known for its abundant natural resources, is one such village.
