Dr. Muhammad Yunus flew from Bangladesh to Kerala to attend the IEEE International Conference on Technology Enhanced Education at the Amritapuri campus. The 2006 Nobel Laureate pioneered the concept of microcredit not only in his country but all over the world.

HP announced today the addition of two Indian organizations, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham and Learning Links Foundation, to its gl obal HP Catalyst Initiative.
In India today, 40 million children complete high school every year. This, despite the 56% dropout rate, wherein many children who enroll, don’t complete their school education.

A new research grant from the Department of IT, Government of India will see Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham and CDAC-Mumbai design interactive Online Labs using advanced computer simulation and animation technologies.
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham was invited to participate in the Global Online Laboratory Consortium, at MIT, Boston on February 7-8, 2011, which was focused on promoting the development and sharing of, and research into remotely accessible laboratories for educational use. Participants included faculty from leading universities in Australia, Germany, South Africa, Spain, Nigeria, Uganda and many U.S. cities.
"What an eye opening experience our visit to Amrita has been!” stated Dr. Judson Harward, from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), who recently spent some time visiting our large campuses at Amritapuri, Coimbatore and Kochi.
Prof. Prema Nedungadi, key architect of Amrita’s Adaptive Learning software, was invited to speak at the 17th National CBSE Sahodaya Conference in Bengaluru, that was attended by Principals of over 500 top schools from across the country.
A new AUMS office was inaugurated at the institution's Registrar’s office in Coimbatore.
The coming academic year will see the Amrita Vidyalayams in Kerala move more towards IT-enabled learning.
Dr. Kalam inaugurated the Amrita Vidyalayam e-learning Network that connected all the 55 Amrita Vidyalayams, managed by Mata Amritanandamayi Math, in the country through broadband.
A new eLearning and collaborative learning environment called Amrita Learning was launched by Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Former President of India, on 4th Feb, 2008 at Kochi. This is the India's first Adaptive Learning System, developed by AmritaCREATE.

BSNL has also partnered with Amrita Learning to offer Internet-based assessment and learning programme for children.
Amrita Learning, developed in collaboration with Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, is a research-based assessment, learning and practice programme that can be used from the comfort of the home or school computer.
