• The onset of menopause can invite life threatening diseases like osteoporosis. By regular monitoring of a panel of biomarkers, health of women can be monitored and morbidity levels associated with menopause can be reduced.

  • It is seen that therapies for diabetes and heart disease affects liver and these diseases are increasing in prevalence especially in developing countries. The liver metabolises and detoxifies drugs and substances that are harmful to the body as well as produces blood clotting factors, proteins, and enzymes and helps maintain hormone balances, and stores vitamins and minerals.

  • The joint effort by Amrita and Wipro has the goal of making diabetes care available, accessible and affordable for the Indian masses. Amrita and Wipro has envisaged a patient-centric solution wherein low cost diabetes care devices (glucose strips, glucometers & insulin pumps) will interact with users through mobile applications using the cloud gateway. Innovative features of the device will make diabetes management easier for Indian patients and physicians.

  • Tuberculosis (TB) is believed to affect nearly one third of the world population with approximately 9 million new cases detected every year. Current methods of diagnosis includes sputum smear microscopy, chest X-Ray and biopsy which are time consuming and expensive with a low level of accuracy.

  • iabetes mellitus is a public health problem affecting millions of people worldwide. Commercially available glucose sensors are enzyme based and has serious drawbacks like insufficient long-term stability, which originates from the intrinsic nature of the enzymes. This project aims at development and fabrication of non-enzymatic glucose sensor and a glucometer.

  • The proposed work envisages the fabrication of microfluidic lab-on-a-chip (LOC) module for non-enzymatic sensing of glucose, cholesterol and creatinine using a single device.

  • The aim of the project is develop a glucose sensor which work in closed-loop with the insulin pump.

  • A method that is specific and reliable for detecting cancers at early stages and at an affordable cost is of utmost importance as it can function as a first-line guidance. Due to the high prevalence of breast, cervical and ovarian cancer in Indian women our aim is to develop a device that can detect these three cancer’s at an early stage.

  • Diabetes mellitus is a public health problem affecting millions of people worldwide. Commercially available glucose sensors are enzyme based and has numerous drawbacks including high cost and insufficient long-term stability, both of which originate from the intrinsic nature of the enzymes. This project aims at developing a commercially viable non-enzymatic glucose sensor strip and a glucometer. Electrode surface modified with transition metal and metal oxide nanoparticles have been used for the development of non-enzymatic sensors for the amperometric measurements of glucose.

  • The objective of the work was to develop aluminum alloys containing lithium, copper, and zirconium for aerospace applications. Moderately thick deposits of binary and ternary alloys of aluminum with lithium, copper and zirconium were successfully electrodeposited. This was achieved at room temperature through the use of low cost ionic liquid containing AlCl3 and triethylammine hydrochloride (Et3NHCl).

  • Anemia is a serious health problem in developing and underdeveloped countries irrespective of age and gender. Starting with a simple fatigue, anemia can even lead to death if on time monitoring and treatment fails.

  • Oil soluble alkyl substituted hydroxy aromatic compounds functionalized with amine or substituted amines are commonly used as additives in lube oil and fuel oil, since these compounds have potential activity as oxidation inhibitor (antioxidant), emulsifier and crank case detergent. Mannich base derivatives of polyisobutenylsucinicanhydride are the most common. Cardanol which is obtained by the distillation (decarboxylation) of cashew nut shell liquid is chemically an alkyl substituted phenol. It is used in all industries from polymer to medicine. The greatest advantage with cardanol is its availability from renewable source, biodegradability and eco-friendly nature. The objective of the project was to synthesize long chain compounds involving amines and cardanols by utilizing eco-friendly compound from renewable source as the starting material.
