Participants are requested to submit an executive summary of their business plan that explains the problem they are trying to solve, the uniqueness of their solution, value proposition, competitive advantage etc. Additional materials to support the case are welcome.
The top 10 are then invited to Amrita University, Clappana, Kollam to pitch their ideas in front of an elite panel of C-level executives and investors.
The format of Pitch Fest will comprise of two parts for a total of 20 minutes:
- A 10 minute time slot for pitching your idea
- A 10 minute time slot for questions by the panel
Top contenders will be announced and will qualify for seed investments between INR 1 Lakh and 20 Lakhs by Amrita TBI.
Amrita TBI will complete the required due-diligence on the finalists and provide seed investments between INR 1 Lakh and 20 Lakhs for qualified startups. Selected startups will receive mentorship which is a critical factor for their success. We also provide infrastructure and incubation services at very low cost.

Dr. Anand Anandkumar serves as the Managing Director and Chairman of the BOD of the India operations of Cellworks, He is primarily responsible for building up the world wide Business Development and External Alliances footprint for Cellworks. In addition Anandkumar is driving the entry of Cellworks into Industrial Biotransformation and Green Chemistry. Before joining Cellworks, Anandkumar was the founding Managing Director of the India operations of Magma Design Automation, where he was responsible for setting up and driving many aspects of the Operations including RD, Product Engineering, Business Development and links to Government/Academia.

Amrita Pitchfest 2012 was a contest for start-ups with innovative ideas and held during the SecurIt conference on August 18, 2012. The event was held in cooperation with Cloud Security Alliance, and Trusted Computing Group. The chief guest of the event was Esther Dyson, a long-time catalyst of start-ups in information technology (www.edventure.com).
Pitchfest offered a perfect platform for start-ups to present innovative business ideas in various fields. The ideas were presented in front of an elite panel that comprised of top level executives led by Esther Dyson.
The Pitchfest selection process comprised of two main rounds:
- The first round consisted of an online application submission process. Applications were accepted from early stage startups- Pre-seed to Round A. As part of the application process, the companies had to submit a short description of the problem they were planning to address, their innovative idea, the team, product, target-market and the amount of funding required.
- The second round comprised of actually pitching the idea in front of a distinguished panel. Applicants short-listed in the first round were invited to make a presentation. The panelists rated the companies on various factors viz. problem, social impact, use of funds etc. They also provided valuable investment advice to the companies.
A total of 30 companies participated in the Pitchfest contest. Eleven companies were shortlisted for the second round and made their pitch. Two companies were selected as winners of the contest.
The Amrita Pitchfest can be considered a highly successful event as it brought together experts from the industry; a premier venture capitalist from Wall Street and smart innovative start-ups. Technical, business and entrepreneurial advice was provided to help these companies re-think their strategies, markets, pricing etc. In the end, two promising companies were selected that have the potential to create an impact in their areas and become highly successful.
Amrita TBI conducted 'Ideas for Future contest' for college girls during the second edition of the International Conference on Women in Computing organized in the Coimbatore campus of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, during January 9-11, 2013.
About 120 students participated in this event. A group discussion on the topic '16 hour power cuts in Tamil Nadu' was conducted.
IDEAS FOR FUTURE CONTEST
The top 30 students were selected and were asked to form 10 teams with 3 members each for the final round. In this round, the teams were provided a list of problems in the areas of Energy, Water and Environment. Each team had to select a problem, define the problem, provide three solutions and then select one solution and justify their choice.
The top three teams where chosen on various criteria including innovative thinking.The first prize was shared by Nehru Institute of Engineering Technology and Dr. GRD college of science. The second and third prizes were awarded to Amrita School of Engineering, Ettimadai and K.S.R.College of Engineering respectively.
