Abhinaya, the Drama club of the School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Bengaluru campus, conducted the first round of its prestigious flagship event “The Best Actor” under the mentorship of Mr. Rajesh R., on March 13, 2020, in Amriteswari Hall. The event took the participants through three rounds and a nail-biting tiebreaker. The first round of Mono-act saw the participants presenting their acts for the duration of two minutes each. twelve participants were selected for the next round called the “Fantasy Round”. The competitors were required to perform in groups of three while being judged on the basis of their individual performances. six competitors advanced to the final round named “Emotion Switch”. The contenders had to switch between various emotions on command while acting on the given topic. The quality performance led to an exciting tiebreaker between the top four contenders. The contestants had to perform on the given topic without any preparation time. Amusingly and without the knowledge of the finalists, the topic for every participant in this tie-breaker was the same!
At the end of this exhilarating event, Mr. Chiranjiv Swain (S4-EIE) was declared “The Winner”, Ms. K. Tejaswini (S4-ECE) and Mr. Pranav R. Nambiar (S4-CSE) tied for “The Runners-up” position while Mr. VasumanSenapathy (S4-ECE) was declared as “The Favourite Actor”
