Amrita School of Engineering, Bangalore, saw the first event of ECIF, the forum of Department of ECE and EIE, on August 11, 2016 in Sudhamani Hall in the campus. The main motto of this event was to introduce the Faculty of the department to the students. Joint Secretary Sri Harsha welcomed all the students, teachers and the HoD. His welcome talk was followed by a small skit, enacted by Shubham and Swaroop, which contrasted the life of Govt. And private engineering colleges, and also showed the subtle nuances of being a student. The act was outright hilarious and the audience was well entertained throughout. Sri Harsha further welcomed Kartikeyan on the stage, who put up a brilliant show of his beatboxing talent. Going a little out of the way, Kartik coaxed a few teachers into trying their hand (or larynx) at beatboxing.

After his captivating performance, Sri Harsha got on stage to introduce the Head of ECE Department, Dr. Shikha Tripathi. On his request, Dr. Tripathi came on stage and delivered a small yet precise talk, welcoming all students to the Department. She went on to share a few of her own experiences, thoughts and ideas. She introduced the students to ECIF, and urged them to actively participate in the events conducted by the Forum.

Proceeding with his presentation of introductions, Sri Harsha shared the details and academic research interests of several other teachers in the Department, including Dr. T K Ramesh, Vice Chair of ECE, Dr. S Ravishanker, Chairperson of EEE, and Dr. Karthikeyan, Vice Chair of EIE.

Sunil, of the newly formed Humor Club, took over the presentation after a while and continued introducing teachers of the Department to the students. His sense of humor was impeccable throughout his part, and the audience enjoyed the time he was on stage. He also saw through a few little games, in one of which pictures of various teachers from their childhood were shown and the students were asked to guess the teacher rightly.

The presentation environment took a break when Shubham and Swaroop held the mics again, this time to ask funny and unique questions to the faculty present. This was followed by Murali, Joint Secretary of ECIF, continuing with the slides. He also invited Ms. Ponni, Assistant Professor in the Department of ECE, to share her wisdom with the audience.

The final part of the event enchanting, with Shubham and Swaroop making the audience laugh their heart out with their stand-up comedy. Beyond Blackboard ended with a fun filled video, which well showed the unconventional and ‘Wow!’ side of ECE Department with clips of teachers’ dances from the previous events, including Farewell of 2011 batch. Secretary of ECIF, Tanmay Sharma, wrapped the event with his small talk, encouraging the students to work closely with ECIF and participate in as many events as possible.
