The Electronics, Computers, Communication and Instrumentation Forum (ECCIF), of Amrita School of Engineering, Bengaluru, organized an event “Beyond The Blackboard” on October 31, 2020.

It was a virtual event conducted through Microsoft teams with a participation of 120 students from second-year ECE & EAC branches. The main objective of the event was to introduce the faculty members and their research areas of the Department of ECE to the second year students. Mr. Sumukh, the Joint secretary of ECCIF, welcomed everyone present, introduced the club and handed the screen over to the Secretary of ECCIF, Mr. B. B. Nishal Keertan. He acknowledged the presence of The head of the Department of ECE, Vice-Chair and the respective faculty members of the ECE Department. Dr. Sriram Devanathan (Principal, Amrita School of Engineering) addressed the students and emphasized the fact that learning is an everyday process. Dr. Navin Kumar, Chairman, Department of ECE, spoke about the importance of taking part in the technical events, workshops and competitions so as to develop skills required in the field. Dr. Dhanesh G Kurup, Professor, Department of ECE, shared his thoughts on the current scenario in our country regarding the quality of the products manufactured and how improvement is needed in the field of technical research in many domains prominent one being the defense. Then came the time to let the students know what the ECE department and the teachers have in store for them. Each teacher was introduced to the 2nd year students by Ms. Cherishma, Joint secretary of ECCIF and Mr. Prateek, Executive Member of ECCIF along with the faculty members’ achievements, area of interest and the experience which they had gained throughout the years. In between, 3 events were lined up at regular intervals namely Guess the word, Catch the beat and Movies/Series quiz to make the event more interactive as well as engaging. The various clicks of faculty members dancing together to the beats of popular songs, pictures of festival celebrations in the department were shown. ECCIF mentor Mrs. Bhavana V., (Assistant Professor, Department of ECE) formally introduced the club to everyone and gave a brief explanation of the events that have been planned to be conducted in the current academic term. The Secretary Mr. Nishal expressed his gratitude to everyone for attending the event and acknowledged everyone responsible for making the event a successful one.
