The IEEE PES & IAS Joint Student Branch Chapter of Amrita School of Engineering, Bengaluru, conducted a workshop on ‘Career Growth for Budding Electrical Engineers’ for budding Electrical Engineers on 29th April, 2017.

The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. S. Ravishankar, Chairperson, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Bengaluru; Mini Sujith, Vice Chairperson, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Bengaluru; Dr. K. Deepa and Mr. Prasanna Kumar V., student volunteer. The workshop was co-ordinated by Dr. K. Deepa, Assistant Professor, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Bengaluru.

Dr. J. Ramprabhakar, Assistant Professor, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Bengaluru, welcomed the gathering. Followed by this, Dr. S. Ravishankar discussed the theme and scope of the workshop. The workshop had three interactive sessions, headed by highly qualified leaders who have rich experience in their respective fields, with eminent positions in well-renowned companies. They were well qualified to clarify all the career related doubts of budding electrical engineers. The speaker for the first session was Mr. Abdul, Senior Manager, OPAL-RT Tech. He spoke about “Recent Trends in Electrical System Simulation”, giving a brief overview of the opportunities and common career paths available in Electrical Engineering. 

Mr. Ganeshan V., Chief Executive Officer, Viswajothi Technologies was the resource person for the second session. He spoke about “Synchronization Techniques in Renewable Energy Grid Integration”. He gave a brief overview on the importance of renewables and also discussed techniques and algorithms needed for grid synchronization.

The speaker for the third session was Mr. V Suresh Babu, Assistant Director National Power Training Institute. He spoke on the “Overview of Wireless Powerless Transfer Technologies”. He gave a brief overview on the importance and techniques of wireless power transfer.
