The first National Symposium on Shock Waves - NSSW 2011 was organized jointly by Amrita School of Engineering and Society for Shock Wave Research (India), Department of Aerospace Engineering, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore. The event was hosted by Amrita School of Engineering, Bangalore on 15th March 2011 followed by a visit to laboratory for Hypersonic & Shock Wave research, IISc, Bangalore on 16th March 2011.

Dr. Satish Kumar, Prof. K. P. J. Reddy, Director, TBRL, Chandigarh, IISc,  Bengaluru. Dr. Suryanaraya, National Aerospace Laboratories, Bengaluru etc. were a few among the distinguished dignitaries who graced the occasion with their presence.
