The School of Ayurveda, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri campus, conducted a free medical camp in the village Suranad in Kollam district around 15 kilometers away from the institution with the support of the Amritanandamayi Bhajanamadam Suranad on May 26, 2019 (Sunday). The camp was conducted as part of its extension program for the improvement of the clinical skills and social responsibilities among the students.

The team consisted of five faculty members, 12 Post Graduate scholars from different clinical and nonclinical departments and 20 House surgeons. 10 OPDs were set with four special OPDs including SHALAKY A, PRASOOTI, SALYA, KAUMARABHRUTHYA, and six General OPOs. The camp started by 9 am alter the prayer. Dr. C. Nagarajan (Br. Sankara Chaitanya)(link is external) (Medical Director, School of Ayurveda, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri) was present and gave a class on health awareness, importance and aim or the medical camp. 175 patients registered and took treatment. Medicines for 5 days were given free of cost to the patients and encouraged them to continue their treatment in free medical camps on every Tuesday and Friday at Amrita School of Ayurveda. The local organizers provided food and other facilities for the doctors.
