International Conference on Material Sciences (SCICON' 16)
The department of Sciences, Amrita School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore Campus is organizing the first international conference on Advanced Materials, SCICON’16 – Materials for a Better Tomorrow on December 19 - 21, 2016. The conference will cover most of the advanced Materials for a Better Tomorrow.
Amrita University was started by the world-renowned humanitarian leader, Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, Amma. As Chancellor of the University, Amma continues to guide the university's mission and growth. Amrita University is a multi-campus, multi-disciplinary research university that is accredited 'A' by NAAC and is ranked as one of the best research universities in India. The university is spread across five campuses in three states of India - Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, with the University headquarters at Ettimadai, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Coimbatore is located at the foothills of Western Ghats blessed with a wonderful climate. There are places nearby Coimbatore to visit including Top slip, Valparai and Ooty to name just a few. As a part of the conference and welcome you to Coimbatore, we will provide a guided tour that you might want to explore further after the meeting.
As part of conference, the SCICON’16 team announce the SCICON award for two Student Poster and oral presentations.
In addition, abstracts of all scientific contributions will be brought out as proceedings with ISBN number and selected papers will be published in Scopus indexed journal which will be intimated later. All conference participants are invited to contribute. The abstracts should be submitted electronically at email@example.com
A unique aspect of this conference is its broad scope, addressing the many diverse fields of Material Science. The goal of the meeting is to bring together international researchers, from academia and industry, to communicate and share the latest developments across the broad and diverse fields of Materials for a Better Tomorrow.

The SCICON’16 International Conference on ‘Advanced Materials’ will be held at the Amriteswari Hall (complex) of Amrita University Coimbatore. The scientific lectures will take place in the E-learning Studio, Sri Krishna Hall, Sudhamani Hall, etc and the poster session will be in Amriteswari Hall complex.
The conference registration on Sunday, 18th December 2016, will be just in front of the Amriteswari Hall(complex).

- Poster Prizes-There will be 5 poster prizes to be given to outstanding poster presentations.

About the Department of Sciences
The Department is started in the year 1994 and presently it has 27 faculty members with 21 PhDs from various universities in India and abroad.
