The Department of Civil Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore, is organizing Invited Talk & Interactive Session by Dr. E. Sreedharan on 26th February 2018 at Amriteswari Hall, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore.
Dr. Sreedharan , Principal Adviser to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), is an Indian engineer who played key role in the building of the Konkan Railway and the Delhi Metro. In the year 1964, when Govt allotted six months to restore Pamban Bridge (India’s first and longest sea bridge then) that had been damaged by a cyclone, he executed the complete work within 46 days. Govt of India honored him with Padma Shri in 2001 and Padma Vibhushan, in 2008. The Government of France bestowed upon him “The Order of Légion d'Honneur”, the highest decoration in France, in 2005. Government of Japan awarded him “the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star” in 2013 at Tokyo. American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) lists Dr. E Sreedharan as the topmost among famous civil engineers in the world. He has been awarded Honorary Degree of Doctor of Science/ Philosophy/Literature by many IITs and Universities in the country (16 in number). Dr. Sreedharan is also heading Foundation for Restoration of National Values. He regularly reads the Bhagwad Gita and tries to imbibe its teachings in his professional and personal life.
All interested to attend the event are requested to register online and be seated in the hall by 9am. This will help us in smooth conduct of the event. There is no registration fee. Registration does not guarantee a seat as there can be large crowd. However there will be live telecast in adjacent auditorium if Amriteswari hall gets filled.
