The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore, conducted a Knowledge Empowerment Programme on Computational Thinking for Electric Power Applications using MATLAB on March 2, 2016.
Embedded systems have infused into every aspect of our daily life. Advances in process technology and ever increasing demand of smarter, cheaper, and power-conscious embedded systems have fuelled the needs for better methodologies and tools to design, analyze, implement and deploy such systems.
The objective of Knowledge Enhancement Programmes are to enhance the understanding of students emphasizing concepts, methods, and tools to design better embedded systems which meets the real time industrial demand.
The One Day Workshop on Computational Thinking for Electric Applications using MATLAB was organized by the Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore on 02.03.2016. MATLAB is used for various applications like Control Systems, Mechatronics, Embedded Systems, Power Electronics Control Design, Signal Processing, Image Processing and Computer Vision, Internet of Things, Data Science etc. It provides a platform to model a system, analyze, test and implement the same in hardware using Rapid Prototyping Boards. MATLAB comprises of various tools and rich set of libraries to develop Electrical and Electronics applications related to Power Systems, Power Electronics, Control Systems, Renewable Energy Systems, etc. The emphasis of the workshop is to inculcate an interest in finding solutions to the problems pertaining to wide realms of Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
To deliver knowledge in the following domain:
Introduction to MATLAB & M-file Programming namely Environment Setup, Data Types, Operators, Decisions, Loops, Vectors, Matrices, Arrays, Functions, Data Import and Export, Plots and Simulink, DSP Implementation.
