The Center of Excellence in Advanced Materials & Green Technologies and the Department of Chemical Engineering in collaboration with the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering are organizing a 6-day National Level Hands-on Workshop on Nanomaterials and Nanocomposites from January 30th – February 4th, 2017 at Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore. The workshop is supported by ISAMPE and IETE and is multidisciplinary in nature. It will be useful for faculty, researchers and students from different academic streams.

About the Workshop

This workshop will be an exploration of the world ofnanotechnology to faculties, research scholars and students.The participants will be equipped with useful knowledge of the design, processing, characterization, properties, modeling approaches and application potentials of the broad range of nanomaterials and nanocomposites, emphasized through hands - on lab sessions. Participants will learn about the growing applications of nanotechnology in many fields like aerospace, nuclear, biomedical, electronics, energy and chemical engineering. The six-day workshop is organized in a module format, with each module having 3 lectures, tutorial and hand-on lab sessions. The lectures and hands-on sessions will be given by renowned experts and Amrita researchers who are active in the nanotechnology research area. Each module isfocused on a different subfield of nanotechnology, and these are:

Center of Excellence in Advanced Materials and Green Technologies(CoEAMGT) was established with grant awarded by the Ministry of Human Resource Development.

CoEAMGT is engaged in research and development activities in the broad areas encompassing advanced materials and green technologies based on nanomaterial & nanocomposites synthesis, material characterization, material modification, and innovative methodologies of application.

The cross-disciplinary nature of the effort brings together researchers diverse fields of Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, Computational Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, and Environmental Sciences. The team comprises a set of dedicated, highly qualified, widely experienced, motivated researchers.

The Centre has facilities for nomaterials & nanocomposites synthesis and characterization facilities like Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy, UV-Visible Spectroscopy, DifferentialScanning Calorimetry, Thermogravimetric Analysis- Differential Thermal Analysis (TGA-DTA), Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry, Electrochemical Workstation and X-ray diffraction
