National Workshop on Image Processing for Biomedical Applications - IPBA 2016
The Department of Electronics Communication and Engineering, Coimbatore will organise a National Workshop on Image Processing for Biomedical Applications IPBA 2016 from December 16 - 17, 2016.
Biomedical image processing has gained prominence in scientific imaging due to the rapid and continuing progress in computerized medical image visualization and the advances in computer-aided diagnosis. Noise and artifacts are the major issues affecting image quality which ultimately leads to unreliable feature extraction in many biomedical applications. Research efforts are therefore directed towards improving the quality of the images and finding more reliable techniques for handling images. The major challenge is to effectively process and analyze the images in order to extract, quantify and interpret information for successful diagnosis and therapy.
The main focus of the workshop is to emphasize the need for a CAD system and various image processing techniques for biomedical applications. It aims to provide a forum for interaction between all those involved in the multi-disciplinary fields of biomedical image processing. It will benefit faculty as well as research scholars working in this field to update their skills and knowledge and to stay abreast of the recent developments in the medical field. The panels of speakers include eminent academicians, physicians and industrialist who will share their expertise in the relevant areas and present their perspectives.
The workshop sessions include,
- Computer Aided Diagnosis – An insight.
- CAD techniques for Retinopathy.
- CAD techniques for Lung Cancer.
- Hands on sessions.
