National Workshop on Power Electronics Applications and Control of Modern Electric Drives II
The department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore, is organizing the second series of National Workshop on "Power Electronics Applications and Control of Modern Electric Drives II" from April 6-7, 2016.
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
Power electronics is the technology associated with efficient conversion, control and conditioning of electric power from its available input form into the desired electric output form. One of the major areas of applications of power electronics is the control of electric motors. Applications range from very large motors for industrial and traction applications (with power measured in megawatts) to small electric motors in consumer electronic equipment. Across this range, there is a requirement for accurate control of speed, torque and the position. Power electronic control circuits play a vital role in controlling these motors.
This workshop is planned as a series in three phases. In this, we bring together a few experts in advanced fields of application of power electronics and drives including power quality studies, electric vehicles, distributed generation and storage. In the first phase, emphasis was given to Power Electronic Drives and Control. This is the second phase of the series in which emphasis will be given to power quality issues. Distributed generation and storage wiil be addressed in the third phase. A hands-ON simulation and experimental demonstration is planned for selected topics.
