Inspiring  Change  Towards  Safe and Happy  Living, a one day seminar organized by Amrita School of Arts  and Sciences  was inaugurated by Smt R Nishantini  IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police on 21st of March 2014. This seminar was conducted in connection with  International women’s day with an objective of inspiring the audience to play a greater role in shaping their healthy life. General Secretary of Amritanandamayi Math Swami Purnamritananda Puri blessed the occasion and Dr. U. Krishna Kumar, Director, Amrita School of Arts and Sciences welcomed the gathering.Adv.Sony Vijayan, Head of the Department, Commerce and Management delivered the vote of thanks.

Smt. R. Nishanthini IPS in her inaugural speech mentioned that the maximum cases reported in the city are related to the misuse of face book and mobile phones. She emphasized on the need to have awareness on the positive and negative impacts of technology  in our daily lives. ‘Parents should make sure that their sons respect women which in turn would help in creating a better society in future” she added.Sri.Francies Perera Sub Inspector Police Cyber Cell  gave a very interesting and valuable talk on “Cyber Media: Social impact and Security of Internet“ A session on  Art of Parenting and Communication with Children was taken by Dr. Bindu Menon, Associate Professor. Dept .Of. Psychiatry, AIMS. The after noon sessions were conducted by Dr. Raahul Lakshman, Administrative Medical Officer, AIMS and Dr.Lakshmi R.Lakshman Assistant Professor, Dept.Of. Obstetrics and Gynecology, AIMS. A musical fiesta by Amrita Veechi, the student music group guided by Dr.C S Jayaram, Professor, Amrita School of Arts and Sciences entertained the audience before the start of the afternoon session.
