Amrita School of Pharmacy, Kochi, conducted a talk by Dr. Baskaran Thyagarajan, Assistant Professor, College of Health Sciences, University of Wyoming, USA, on “ Obesity and Nanotherapeutics” for B. Pharm fourth year and M. Pharm first year and second year students, on August 22nd, 2017.

Baskaran Thyagarajan joined the UW School of Pharmacy faculty at the beginning of the fall 2011 semester as an Assistant Professor of Pharmaceutics. He was previously a Research Assistant Professor with the Division of Nephrology at the University of Rochester Medical Center Department of Medicine in Rochester, New York. Dr. Thyagarajan led the New Drug Discovery Research – Safety Pharmacology group in Ranbaxy Research Labs (Multinational Pharma Giant of India). His research interests include molecular mechanisms of neuronal exocytosis and endocytosis, role of TRP channels and lipid microdomains in synaptic transmission, neurodegenerative diseases, muscular dystrophy, botulinum neurotoxin antidotes and magnetic nanospheres as targeted drug delivery carriers.
