The Indian Society of Toxicology Forensic Medicine Department & Poison Control Center at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), Kochi is organizing a two day conference TOXOCON - 10 from December 28-29, 2017.
The Indian Society of Toxicology had its genesis in the Poison Control Centre, AIMS Cochin on June 16, 2004 with the objective of bringing all professionals and students engaged in various branches of toxicology together under a common platform and to get them to work in unison to uplift this vast, but neglected specialty. Today, we are 400 member strong, with representatives from forensic science, Forensic toxicology, forensic medicine, clinical medicine, emergency medicine., paediatrics, pharmacology, pharmacy, veterinary toxicology and laboratory toxicology.
A two day conference is the first of its kind held in india on the issue of Criminal Poisoning –Medical,Legal and Social Issues.There will be an oration (IST Oration 2016),followed by structured lectures,paper presentations and discussions by immenent national and international experts on modern concepts of criminal poisoning encompassing clinical,forensic,analytical ,investigative and legal aspects. 20 papers will be accepted for presentation with one Best Paper Award each for student and faculty categories which carries a trophy and a citation.There will be an E-Poster Session with a maximum of 10 entries.A Best Poster Award is also instituted.Last date for submission of paper abstract and E-poster is November 15, 2016.
An Expert Panel comprising experts from clinical, forensic and analytical toxicology will answer questions on various aspects of criminal poisoning. Questions can be sent in advance to the Conference Secretariat on or before November 30,2016.
For the first time, eminent experts who have contributed to various aspects of toxicology will be felicitated. The June-December 2016 issue of the Journal of Indian Society of Toxicology(JIST) will be distributed free to all delegates.
The organizing committee has initiated the process to obtain adequate credit hours for the conference.
