To enrich and to enhance students with the media requirements and to elaborate on the courses offered by the Department of Mass Communication, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore, a chain of webinars were organized in collaboration with Alumni’s. All the sessions were well received by the students as it goes more of interactive in nature. Webinars gave the opportunity for the students to understand more about the institution, courses, scope, internship and placements. The first webinar in the series was conducted on August 28, 2020, having prominent VJ, Actor and Media Consultant Reshmi Chowlloor, as the guest followed by Anusha Venkitaraman on September 1, then Dubai based Radio station RJ Anjana on September 4, Mr. Karan Pillai, Senior Sub-Editor of The Hindu, then by Ms. Parvathi Nair, prominent dancer and Entrepreneur from Jordan on September 11, followed by Mr. Sheik M. A., Digital Media Consultant on September 14, and finally by Mr. Arvind Gunasekhar, Senior Correspondent from the NDTV, Delhi.
As part of academics, some webinars were organized by the Department on different dates meeting the concerned course requirements offered by the department. Students within and outside the department have attended the course and find it beneficial in applying it in practicals. Guests invited are all well known in the industry and acknowledge for their work. Session on Self-awareness by actor, motivator and VJ Mr.Govind Padmasoorya on October 8, 2020, Expert talk on Advertising and storyboard by Mr. Bhanuparakash, Ad Maker and Media Consultant on October 28, Do and Don’t of Ethical Journalism session by the senior broadcast journalist Mr. Abhishek Nair on September 21 and an expert session on Media Planning and Marketing by Ashok Vidyasagar on November 7, 2020, were the some to name in this list.
