Amrita Center for Wireless Networks and Applications (AmritaWNA), Technology Enabling Center (TEC) and IEEE Student Branch Chapter – Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri Campus, are jointly organizing a one day Webinar on “Technology, Transition and Transformation- Towards 5G OpenRAN” on January 10, 2021: 7.00 PM – 8.00 PM IST.
Today 5G is going through OpenRAN transformation in the aspects of architecture, implementation and deployment. Telecom and IT vendors have been developing platform solutions towards 5G network deployments.
To avoid vendor lock-in, Service Providers have shown keen interest in deploying the open-source solutions and influencing the ongoing open-source initiatives. Open RAN forms part of this framework. The key challenge for both Cellular Service Providers (CSP) and equipment vendors is to ensure different network elements in RAN to work effectively to support three use cases of eMBB (enhanced Mobile Broadband), URLLC (Ultra-Reliable Low Latency Communications), mMTC (massive Machine Type Communications).
This live webinar will dig into the varied and various aspects of the openRAN landscape including system design considerations, open-source standards, protocols, interfaces, etc. We will also cover the industrial and research opportunities in openRAN.
